Greetings from the TSA President

Its all about having fun.  For some, fun is taking your game to the next level, and participating in a competitive league or bonspiel.  For others, it’s time spent on the ice with friends and then socializing afterwards, with the only competition being to determine who gets a “free drink”.  Regardless of your motivation, the TSA Board of Directors and General Manager are committed to providing a safe atmosphere for members and guests this upcoming curling season.   We are in the process of creating the Operational Plan and Return to Play guidelines.  Once these have been finalized, we will share them with the membership.
Unfortunately the 2019-2020 season came to an abrupt end, and some events had to be cancelled.  However, looking back, we have a long list of accomplishments. We hosted the Jim Sullivan Curling Classic, which for the first time, on the women’s side, was won by a South Korean team.  We also hosted the Mixed Doubles and the U-21 Papa John’s Provincial Championships.  All three of these events were in December.  It was an incredibly busy month, and went very smoothly thanks to all of the volunteers who signed up to assist.  Whether helping Bob with the ice, keeping the lounge clean, maintaining the live scoring, or any of the other many tasks, TSA members certainly stepped up.  THANK YOU to everyone that helped.  It’s because of this volunteer spirit that we are able to host events like this.

We also hosted several fun nights during the season, and, based on the turnout, they were a hit!  Adding trivia and “Name that Tune” contests during the 4th end stretch was a  huge success.  We are already planning more fun nights this coming season.  Stay tuned, and check out the monthly newsletter and online calendar for dates.

Finally, on a personal note, Charlene and I have been members now for 6 years. Thanks to Mike and Bob, the volunteers and the members, we have enjoyed this fantastic curling club. But it isn’t the curling alone that encourages us to get involved.  It is the spirit of friendship we have encountered from the first time we set foot in the club that has kept us coming back.  I am already looking forward to another fantastic curling season.

Good Curling!
